About Cheer Doc

Dr. Chato Hendrix has served as a school counselor, NFL cheerleader and NFL cheerleader director for almost 20 years. Dr. Hendrix eventually realized the synergy of all three roles, as each required cheering others on to victory. One morning, God whispered to her the name “Cheer Doc” as a way to combine her God-gifted talent of exhortation with her professional career. As the Cheer Doc, Chato promotes H.O.P.E. (Happiness, Optimism and Positive Energy). In addition to delivering game-changing levels of H.O.P.E., The Cheer Doc will also bring to the market a line of “positive paraphernalia” products and other merchandise that will allow her clients to maintain H.O.P.E. in everything they do, every day of their lives. Background Dr. Chato Hendrix is a former Lead Counselor for Clayton County Public Schools at both the elementary and high school level. For 18 years, she has served the students of this school district through guidance, coordination and development of innovative programs, leveraging various resources and hosting the C.H.A.T. (Communication to Help Activate Teens). Chato thoroughly enjoys all aspects of her career and finds it extremely rewarding to see her students grow academically and emotionally. Witnessing her students succeed and being a partner in their journey to success are definitely highlights of her life. Chato was born in Jacksonville, FL and later moved to Delray Beach, FL. She attended Florida A & M University where she graduated in 3 years and received a BS in Psychology. She also attended Clark Atlanta University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Arts in School Counseling. Chato subsequently attended Capella University where she earned a doctorate degree in Psychology. While Chato has a passion for the arts, she was drawn to a career in education by her desire to continue the positive cycle that her own teachers and counselors began with her. The teachers and counselors that provided guidance for Chato continue to play a significant role in her life today. Chato is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Jack and Jill of America. She is also a former Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader (2 year line captain) and Jr Cheerleader Coordinator. She currently serves as the coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders where she not only has the opportunity to coach young professional “wow women”. But, she creates numerous opportunities for the cheerleaders to positively impact the lives of others in all areas. Chato has been on numerous television shows and featured in several national publications. She also enjoyed filming the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders reality series, “The New South, Making the Squad” found on Comcast/Xfinity on Demand. In addition to her work in the arena of sports, education, and the community, Chato is also serving as an advisor for the World of HBCU Cheerleading and Danceline Competition. In her spare, time Chato enjoys shopping, eating, making others laugh and giving advice. Dr. Hendrix and her husband, Dr. Douglas Hendrix have two children, Dove and Douglas Hendrix, Jr. (“Deuce”).
